Since 1965, the Art & Apples Festival® has transformed the 30-acre Rochester Municipal Park into one of the nation’s top fine art fairs, bringing together 200+ fine art exhibitors, a wide range of food trucks and tents, stage entertainment and art demonstrations, and art activity stations for the three-day weekend.
The Art & Apples Festival® is a program of Paint Creek Center for the Arts- a regional, nonprofit art center located in downtown Rochester, Michigan- and is the arts organization’s annual fundraiser.
PCCA works year-round to advance its mission to celebrate and support creativity in our community by providing opportunities for all to learn, create, experience, and appreciate the arts.
Patrons are invited to experience everything the festival has to offer; from the artwork of our talented artists, the sights and sounds of the Main Stage; to the fresh apple treats and mouth-watering food vendors found around the park, and the creative experiences of the Kids Art Zone and Creation Station- there is something for everyone at the Art & Apples Festival®.
A free shuttle bus to the festival and free parking available on Saturday (9 am – 8 pm) and Sunday (9 am – 4:30 pm) from Rochester High School (1361 Walton Blvd.)
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an entry fee?
While the Art & Apples Festival remains a free event, a $5 donation is suggested at entry to help support Paint Creek Center for the Arts (the organizing non-profit behind the Art & Apples Festival) as well as the other non-profits welcoming you at each entrance.
For more information about the Gate Groups and where your donation goes, please visit the “Gate Groups & Partner Organizations” page.
Are pets allowed?
While we’d love to meet your furry friend some other time, pets are not allowed in the park during special events such as the Art & Apples Festival per the City of Rochester. Rochester Police will be on-site to enforce this ordinance for the safety and well being of all festival patrons and participants. The Art & Apples Festival draws a crowd of 60,000-80,000 people each year- that is a lot of eyes looking up at beautiful artwork and live music and not paying attention to your four-legged friend down on the ground.
This restriction is outlined in the City of Rochester Pet Park Permit Application, under Restriction #2 regarding special events. For more information about this special ordinance, please contact the City of Rochester via their website, rochestermi.org
Where is parking available?
We recommend utilizing our shuttle buses, which are available fr0m Rochester High School (1361 Walton Blvd, Rochester Hills). The shuttle is free to the public and will run on Saturday and Sunday.
Handicap parking is available near the park entrance at 400 6th St. This lot does fill up quickly, so if no more parking is available, please utilize the shuttle (buses are handicap accessible).
Further options can be found on the City of Rochester’s parking page. There are several paid lots in the immediate area, some managed by the city and others by private businesses in the area. Please know that while these are great options for those looking to park close by, any paid parking is not being charged by Paint Creek Center for the Arts as the host organization.
Why are there politically-affiliated booths outside of the festival?
Any politically related booths near the Art & Apples Festival were not invited by or associated with Paint Creek Center for the Arts.
To host the festival, PCCA reserves Rochester Municipal Park with the City of Rochester. Areas immediately outside of the park, such as near the Bicentennial Monument or the tennis courts, are not considered part of the park itself. All artists, food vendors, and sponsors that were accepted by PCCA are located inside of the park. Any solicitors found inside the park, such as political groups, buskers, or those trying to sell water, will be directed to leave the festival area. Legally, these groups are allowed to set up in these areas, as they are considered public spaces.
PCCA is a non-partisan 501c3 organization and does not endorse any parties or candidates.
Is this event kid-friendly?
Absolutely! Please visit our Kids Art Zone for free art-making activities, live art demonstrations and enjoy age-appropriate amenities like bounce houses, face painting and more.
